Dolphins and Whales Galore!

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | June 16, 2018

If you’re as excited by sea life as much as we are, Tin Can Bay makes for a great morning out! Travelling up the east coast of Australia we were yet to see dolphins, though we’d heard from a few people we might see them in the area. Then we were told about Barnacles at […]

A Saturday Morning Exploring in Hervey Bay

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | May 17, 2018

The Journey Begins… After last week’s dreary rain the renewed sunshine was very welcome. Determined to make the most of it we started the day fairly early and headed towards the beach! No time for swimming and sunbathing just yet though – we had our sights set on exploring first, with the promise of a […]

Wild weather getaways from Hervey Bay

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | February 24, 2018

There’s a magical turning point that occurs about two months into the Hervey Bay summer heat. The point where you start to secretly love the rain. Wait for it. Even actively wish for it. So when the rain finally started pouring a few days ago it felt like a big, fresh breath of air. Since […]

Become a Roo Whisperer at the Fraser Coast Wildlife Sanctuary

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | February 16, 2018

After a visit to the lovely Fraser Coast Wildlife Sanctuary just a 30 minute car ride from Woolshed Eco Lodge we can tell you this much : kangaroo whispering is not hard. At all. Pull out a bag of ”kangaroo food” and they come jumping straight at you. They’re not that soft and “whispery” though […]

Australia Day in Hervey Bay!

Acknowledge Australia Day in Hervey Bay

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | January 24, 2018

First and foremost… We at Woolshed Eco Lodge acknowledge the traditional custodians of the great land we live in. We respect and understand the difficulties in recognizing this most recent date as a mile stone in the history of this land down under given the fact it is but a small page in the overall […]

Surfing at Rainbow Beach

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | January 15, 2018

You cannot go to Australia and not learn how to surf, right!? In Hervey Bay we don’t have much waves, but just an hour and a half away is the lovely Rainbow Beach. It’s definitely worth a day trip for anyone with a car (or a bus ticket)! The town of Rainbow Beach is t-i-n-y […]

The main NYE Event in Hervey Bay will be held at walking distance from the Woolshed, at Torquay Foreshore (Bill Fraser Park and Ernie Organ Park). You’ll find it by walking down to the Esplanade, turn right and keep walking. […]

Santa made it to the Woolshed!

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | December 30, 2017

Just a few days before Christmas Day, we were surprised to find a booking from Mr. Santa Claus himself (and his 8 kangaroo ’reindeers’ who we finally decided to host in the garden and had a terrible time keeping out of the waterlily pond) Funny enough, Santa decided to visit on the 24th of December. […]

SUP through the Queensland Christmas

By Woolshed Eco Lodge | December 22, 2017

Merry Christmas, ya’ll! This really is the season to be jolly! 😀 The Queensland X-mas sun has been no letdown and the last week we’ve made the most of the incredible weather by trying a bunch of SUP-activities. Since Hervey Bay is protected from winds and waves by Fraser Island, the waters here are usually […]
