A Whale Watching Tale

The Hervey Bay region is lucky enough to be in the path of the humpback whales annual migration. Over 7000 whales choose to stop and play at our beautiful town while mother humpbacks teach their calves survival skills before they head off to Antarctica.

Their 10 000km journey between June and November passes our shores for locals and tourists to see. With a top swimming speed of 9 to 10 knots the humpback whale slows down and relaxes in Hervey Bay much like the people living here. These beautiful creatures are interesting to learn about and amazing to see in person.

Woolshed backpackers offer deals for accommodation and whale watching tours allowing visitors to relax like the locals and whales.
