New Year’s Eve – Hervey Bay

2023 is just around the corner. What better way to celebrate than on the beach!

The main NYE Event in Hervey Bay will be held at walking distance from the Woolshed, at Torquay Foreshore (Bill Fraser Park and Ernie Organ Park). You’ll find it by walking down to the Esplanade, turn right and keep walking. When you see the post office and Café Aquavue, you’ve made it!

The celebrations start at 3 pm with a New Years Eve Market. From 4 pm to 8 pm there will be live music, face painting, balloon sculptures, laser skirmish, jumping castles and live music. At 8 pm the fireworks start filling the sky from the Torquay Pier!

The Torquay event is free. If you feel like something extra, we suggest one of these events:

Beach House Hotel Party

Free entry to this party on 2 levels and with DJ Skweek / Red Betty. Doors open at 9 pm and fireworks start at midnight from the Scarness Pier!

NYE at Enzo’s on the beach

This ever-awesome beach restaurant is hosting an NYE event with bubbles, canapés and a guaranteed great view of the Torquay fireworks. Check for tickets ($20) in advance, ticketed entry from 7.30 pm.

Feel like clubbing?

Then head over to Smoke n Leather, right at the Torquay Foreshore. There’s a no lockout party until 5 am.

Closest to the ka-boom

Aquavue Café will have an amazing view of the 8 pm fireworks. They are open until 1 am on New Years Day.

Midnight dinner at The Vinyard

Lovely, fancy The Vinyard is open until midnight and has a range of á la carte- specials for a gourmet NYE. Reservations required.

To the sea!

Want a relaxing start to 2022? Take it out to sea on a NYE cruise with Hervey Bay Eco Marine Tours, sipping cold champagne and eating canapés and seafood. The cruise departs well before the fireworks starts, at 5 pm from the Great Sandy Straits Marina.

NEW YEAR’S DAY

Sandcastle time!

The first day of 2023 hosts a truly awesome Hervey Bay Event: The Sandsculpting Competition on Scarness beach right in front of the Woolshed Eco Lodge!

The event is created by 9 year old Monique who is raising money for Cancer Council Queensland. The format is simple: Build your sandsculpture and get people to vote for you by dropping a coin into the relative donation bucket. You can also just come down to admire the beautiful creations and vote. All donations go to Hervey Bay Relay for Life raising funds for Cancer Council Queensland.

Basic schedule:
Anytime: Come down and start building your Sandcastle
1pm: Registration opens at the CCQ marquee
3pm: Organiser will peruse sandcastles to choose their winners
3:45pm: Donation buckets finish being collected
4pm: Winners announced

Woolshed receptionist Andy has some serious art skills, we think…
